Small Tavern Crystal Glass
Tavern glasses are made in a style that was commonly seen at homes and taverns in colonial times. A clear tavern glass was generally used for wine while a darker colored glass was used for other beverages. The Mount Vernon tavern glasses are approximately 7" tall, 2 ¾" in diameter at the base, and 3 ¼" in diameter at the lip. Size will vary as each glass is individually hand-made. The capacity of the small tavern glass is 4 ounces. "GW" has been etched on the bottom of each glass exclusively for Mount Vernon. Handmade by Blenko Glass, West Virginia stained glass makers since the 19th century.
